Default Perma-hungry =[

Hello! I'm new to this weight-loss community. I'm 26, 5'7", a Norcal resident, and last night's weigh-in yielded the following results:

-- 159 lbs
-- 32.1% body fat

So awesome. NOT!! Clearly, I've gained weight since college and me no likey! I put myself on South Beach yesterday, so today's my "official" first day! And I cheated already. I scraped the toppings off 6 slices of Round Table pizza, which I'm sure took off a little of the crust underneath. I can't believe I'm already half-assing it.

But anyhoo, my problem is I'm always hungry when I don't have starchy carbs in my system!! For example, I ate lunch from 12:30-1, and it's 2:20 and I'm already feeling the emptiness in my stomach. AND my sister and I both agree we aren't able to work out as hard when we've got no carbs in our system to use as fuel. Personally, I get a little dizzy. What's the solution to this problem? I'd really like to know because I don't want to be perma-hungry and I want to be able to work out hard.

Hey ButterLover -

We have a great South Beach forum here, so you may want to pose your question to the experts over there. You may also want to visit our "Featherweights" forum, for those starting at a weight closer to a healthy weight than some others here...it presents unique challenges.

If you feel you need starchy carbs, perhaps South Beach isn't the plan for you. You might want to consider looking at other plans, as well, just to get an idea of what is out there. There is no one "right way" to lose weight that works for everyone, only the right way for you.

Look around, keep posting, and keep going. Can't wait to get to know you better!

Ah, Round Table Pizza! I guess I should be glad I no longer live where there is a Round Table, but you brought back some memories.

South Beach can be a great program, but it is not for everyone. Check out the South Beach forum. Carbs can come from so many sources, including beans, fruits, veggies, oatmeal, yogurt, milk, etc. I find that protein, healthy fats, and lots of fiber work well to satiate my appetite. Surf around. We have a lot of accountability threads where people post their nutrition plans and you can get some pretty good ideas.
